What is the core of a value?
Ask yourself this question and see if you understand what makes up the core of a value. Is what drives you everyday valuable to you? Do people around you seek the same values?
Our values will determine who we are and where we end up in life believe it or not. For example, I value my body. Not my highest value in life, but it’s something I value and along with maintaining my body comes with discipline, another value of mine.
It’s the only body I got and I want to keep it looking good and healthy, so I make time in my schedule to workout, my diet limited to low carbs and high protein meals, no drugs, no alcohol. If I truly value my body, then would I put things in it that would ruin it? No, of course not.
People around me can tell that I value my body because of my disciplined lifestyle along with an in-shape body.
The things we value will show through our character and will become our lifestyle whether good or bad.
So back to the core of these values, or should I say core values, because that is what I’m getting at here.
They make up who we are. Not just on a physical level like the example I gave, but on a much deeper level. Companies have core values that drive the employees so the company itself (as a whole) can operate on the highest level possible.
If the core values of the company truly have the best interest of the company and its employees and if the employees take those core values seriously then everyone benefits.
Growth and success will be inevitable.
Same thing in our personal lives. Our core values must line up with who and what we truly want to be in life.
If integrity (I have another blog related to this) is a core value you live by then people will trust you with their business. With integrity you can expect all kinds of opportunities to come your way, especially leadership positions.
If chivalry is a core value of yours, then any loving father would gladly give his daughter in marriage.
Core values like these will shine through your character, and people won’t doubt ‘what’ these core values are by seeing ‘who’ you are.
So not only is your reputation on the line but also your career, life, future, destiny, and so much more.
Back to the question: what is the core of a value?
Answer: You Are!!
